Dishwood is a fund focused on supporting early-stage founders from the Stanford community. The fund was created to help strong ideas on campus turn into real companies. In addition to providing capital, we aim to connect founders to students, alumni, and a growing support network. The fund exists to give them a practical first step. Cheques range from $5K to $25k.
Founders can pre-pitch directly through the form below. We review each submission carefully and, if there’s a strong fit, we’ll schedule a meeting to discuss further.
All Angels, LPs, and Investors have flexibility in the amount of capital and involvement they want to have at Dishwood. We welcome everyone who wants to support Stanford entreprenuership.
We believe in vertical progress and real creativity — not copy-paste solutions. We value work that builds something new instead of just improving what already exists.
We run a dual model: part venture fund, part investment fund. This lets us support early-stage founders and also invest directly in breakthrough technologies shaping the future.
Dishwood Ventures VC was started at Stanford by Romir Jain, who’s a student there. We work closely with Stanford founders and review many early-stage startups emerging from the campus. We think Stanford is one of the best places in the world for new ideas, and we’re proud to be part of that community. Many of the companies we meet are built in dorm rooms, research labs, or student clubs, especially in areas like AI, climate, fintech, and deep tech — and we take those ideas seriously.
At Dishwood, our LPs do much more than provide funding. They mentor founders, share their own experiences, and connect startups with future costumers and technical talent. They come from technology, finance, energy, and consumer markets, giving our teams a broad base of insight to draw from. Many open doors to other investors, help founders sharpen their pitch, and guide them toward opportunities like competitions and accelerators. In short, they share their network with our founders.
